Creating Lasting Impact

Since its founding in Guatemala in 1992 and Costa Rica in 1995, Homes of Life is an international, faith-based NGO dedicated to protecting and restoring at-risk children.

Originally operating under the Children of Promise International umbrella after 30 years we have created a dedicated non-profit. We have made this thoughtfully considered change to ensure we stay laser-focused on our vision, mission, and partner resources.

Hogar de Vida is now an independent, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit EIN: 33-3531819, as of June 2025. This transition ensures donor support is stewarded in the most measured way, measuring impact  through daily care outcomes, child stability, reunification progress, growth and long-term well-being. Every gift directly sustains life-changing, on-the-ground care where it is needed most in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and through our monthly US mission teams that grow in their faith.

Homes of Life:

  • Operates residential children’s homes (Hogar de Vida) in Costa Rica and Guatemala
  • Provides daily care including housing, food, education, medical care, and psychological support
  • Employs caregivers, teachers, nurses, psychologists, and administrative staff
  • Partners with government child protection agencies (such as Costa Rica’s PANI) to care for children removed from unsafe environments
  • Hosts mission teams and long‑term volunteers who assist with caregiving, maintenance, outreach, and operations
