Faith Missionaries

Hogar de Vida (Home of Life) faith missionaries receive no salary, but depend solely on God's provision to meet all of their needs.  One of the primary means God uses to meet those needs is through the generosity of financial supporters.  Below are some of the Faith Missionaries who work tirelessly to demonstrate God's love to the children:

Amilcar and BettyAmilcar is well known in the small town of San Andres, Guatemala, as a "pillar of the community and a stable, solid man of God."  Be the need physical, emotional or spiritual, Amilcar and his wife Betty always have their home and hearts open and available to give of God's love.

While he and Betty reared their three children, Amilcar labored many years in a satisfying teaching career and served as principal in an area high school.  Amilcar's "retirement" from his education profession was, in reality,  little more than a change of careers, as God's plan for further ministry unfolded.  With more time available, Amilcar increased his involvement in his local church by helping with the finances and accounting.  Through his work in the church, he became known to Hogar de Vida and was invited to become a part of the ministry leadership team.  Amilcar's administrative experience and expertise make him an excellent representative for the children in dealing with  governmental services.  Amilcar and Betty have been and continue to be an important asset to the ministry and a blessing to all at Hogar de Vida.

Amilcar works half time as a faith missionary for Hogar de Vida, receiving no salary or benefits.  He depends solely on the Lord to provide for his needs through financial supporters.  If you are interested in becoming a financial supporter for Amilcar, and would like more information, please email info@homesoflife.org.

Olga with her familyOlga first heard about Hogar de Vida, Costa Rica, through friends, and immediately knew she was to be a part of the ministry.  In 1996, she began volunteering, and as the ministry expanded, so did Olga's heart for the children.  In 1998, she accepted the position of house mother, and with her husband and two children, moved into the children's home.

A few years later, Olga felt God calling her to a life of sold out faith and total dependence on Him.  She relinquished her guaranteed monthly salary from Hogar de Vida, and began trusting God for all of her needs, including her salary.

Each month the Lord provides for Olga through faithful financial supporters.  As life brings rain and sunshine and as supporters come and go, Olga has remained committed to her life of total dependence on the Lord.  Olga has always faithfully served the children and staff of Hogar de Vida, devoting countless hours to work and prayer.  To become a part of Olga's support team email info@homesoflife.org.

When Noemy was a little girl growing up in Costa Rica she often thought about being a missionary and working with children.  In 1995, when Hogar de Vida opened in her home town of Atenas, she quickly made inquiries about working there.  Hired first as a tia (on staff), Noemy worked under the direction of Olga, the house mother, learning the many aspects of running a children's home.  In 1999, Noemy answered God's call to Guatemala to assume the position of director of Home of Life and Nutrition.  Over the next nine years Noemy raised up and released into leadership the current home directors.  She and her adopted daughter, Ana, returned to Costa Rica in 2008 where she now serves as house mother for the third children's home at Hogar de Vida.  To become part of Noemy's support team email info@homesoflife.org.
