In the spotlight

Lester
came to Costa
Rica in search of work to provide for his family in Nicaragua. He is our
right hand “cow” man among his multiple other duties. Recently he was able
to bring his wife and two children to CR.
Out of
a job and possessing few construction skills
Asdrual was hired by a construction crew working at Hogar de
Vida. In short time he had acquired the skills of a seasoned professional
and when the crew moved on, he was hired on at Hogar de Vida as our farm
manager.
Sergio is the pastor of a small, mountain, on fire church. When
word came to Hogar de Vida that the church was no longer able to provide a
salary for Sergio he was hired on as the third and much needed farm/handy
man. He has a wife and two small children.
All
three men not only bring their positive work ethics, but also their strong
Christian faith and witness. To
help with the salaries
of these three blessings please email

From day to day
April
saw the end to a very long time of waiting, when the new mom of one of our
older girls finally arrived to meet her new daughter. It is always a bitter
sweet time saying good-bye, but when the hand of God is so apparent, the
sweet far outweighs the bitter.
May
brought an answer to prayer with two new live-in staff, one for each
home. The additional staff provided the much needed overnight help and
supervision for each house. A continual stream of volunteers flowed through
the homes and the lives of the kids, bringing loads of love, hours of play,
countless hugs and huge blessings of help for the staff.
June
began with a day retreat for the
12 oldest kids, centered on the theme of forgiveness, our value in Christ
and the Father Heart of God. The Lord did a powerful healing in the hearts
of all as tears were shed and prayers lifted up. June also saw the
additional of a sweet and extremely lively almost three year old boy and the
reuniting of two young brothers with their biological mom. Dena, Tim and
family flew to Guatemala to host two teams while our school aged kids put
noses to the notebooks and studied for mid school year exams. The end of
June marked the beginning of two weeks of school vacation. Yeah!

Project progress
Progress continues on the
team cabins. The first cabin was dry walled and sealed, then painted
inside and out by a one day team from Kansas. Doors, windows and security
bars were installed. Cement block walls were completed on the second
cabin making them ready for sealing. The roof over the second cabin and
the adjoining patio area was constructed, welded and raised.
A
team of twenty blessed Hogar de Vida with a week of hard work and sweat as
they shoveled, hauled and pounded down fill for the floors of the second
cabin and the covered picnic area / gazebo. With the pounding
complete, they mixed and poured countless wheel barrows of cement to finish
off both floors. The gazebo is in the process of being roofed and the two
cabins are awaiting ceramic floors.
The
original, back yard wooden playground equipment was disassembled
piece by piece, moved and reassembled next to the new playground equipment.
The addition of this piece, added to the enjoyment the kids already receive
from the play ground area.

Fruit from the field
Y
A good bye letter from one of our newly adopted kids is a perfect reminder
of what life is all about: “Hello, this is Veronica. It has been great to
be here with you. I am well and feel new. What I liked most about living
at Hogar de Vida was that you taught me about God our Father. Thank you
very much! And also for all the friends. I’m very happy.”
Y
Newly adoptive parents have reported that the children they have adopted
from Hogar de Vida were noticeably stable, loved and lovable. Praise God
for His Redeeming Love!
Y
In response to the day retreat one of the kids wrote: “I now know that God
loves me like I’ve never been loved before.” Thank you Father God for your
unconditional Love. |
Missionary Minutes

are many different situations that I could confess to show that life is
nothing without Jesus. He is everything to me. There is reason to live for
Him and because of Him.”
·
Barb Kofski:
“I have come to believe that seeing the world
through the eyes of my preschoolers is like
experiencing life in the simple beauty and innocence God created it to be.” |
