In
the
spotlight
Olga
Campos Rodriguez first heard
about Hogar de Vida through friends and immediately knew she was to be a
part of the ministry. In 1996 she began volunteering and as the ministry
expanded, so did Olga’s heart for the children. In 1998 she accepted the
position of house mother and with her husband and two children moved into
the children’s home.
A
few years later, Olga felt God calling her to a life of sold out faith and
total dependence on Him. She relinquished her guaranteed monthly salary
from Hogar de Vida, and began trusting God for her all of her needs
including her salary.
Each
month the Lord provides for Olga through faithful financial supporters. As
life brings rain and sunshine and as supporters come and go, Olga has
remained committed to her life of total dependence on the Lord. Olga has
always faithfully served the children and staff Hogar de Vida devoting
countless hours to work and prayer. To become part of Olga’s support team

From day to day
January
was a busy month of vacation, filled with hours in the swimming pools,
paseos to town for ice cream, loads of raked leaves and fabulous bon fires
and sky high swinging on the new play ground equipment. Two siblings groups
joined three staff members for a special overnight paseo to the beach,
including dinner in a restaurant and more than enough sun.
February began
the new school year seeing a total of 17 children in uniforms and off to
school. Every morning five of our preschoolers eagerly appear at our
Preschool ready to don uniforms and get busy learning everything they need
to know in life. This year’s first mission team arrived packed to the hilt
with school supplies, games, kids clothing, and hearts to serve. Painting,
laying cement block, building cabinet doors, and electrical wiring kept the
team busy in the mornings while the afternoons were reserved for the
important stuff of life like playing and crafts.
March
arrived with our second team
geared up to pray, share the gospel through dramas and testimonies and as
always spend time loving the kids. Holy week, Dena hosted a team of college
students in Guatemala while the rest of us prepared and celebrated Easter
and eternal life through our Risen Jesus Christ. May you also celebrate
eternal life through Jesus Christ. |
Project progress
Project
progress truly denotes the natural and status of construction at Hogar de
Vida. As soon as one project is completed, if not before, the next one is
under construction.
The
first team cabin is close to completion and the foundation and walls
of the second cabin are in place. The plan is to have two identical cabins
attached by a commonly shared covered patio for use by teams or mid term
missionaries serving at Hogar de Vida. The cabins, of simple design consist
of a bathroom, one or two “quaint” sized bedrooms, and a large dorm room.
Each cabin would have the sleeping capacity of ten people. The approximate
cost of each cabin is $10,000.
The
foundation for a covered picnic area/shelter have been poured and
plans for construction of the roof are in place. The picnic area,
surrounded by towering pine trees is centrally located and available for the
use of all. During the six month rainy season the picnic shelter will
receive abundant use.
After a long wait, the six cement picnic tables and benches have
finally arrived. Slabs are poured and all tables and benches secured. Many
delightful hours of play and activities are anticipated. Thanks to all you
project supporters/sponsors! Interested giving towards projects? Email:
